Ed Kim is a digital designer and marketer with a passion for creativity, people, and helping organizations communicate their vision with clarity and purpose.
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Ed brings experience across web design, digital advertising, graphic design, video production, social media, communications, and digital operations. His work has spanned small businesses, healthcare, churches, ministries, and nonprofit organizations, giving him the opportunity to help a wide range of people bring their ideas to life through thoughtful design and digital strategy.
Ed holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and a Master of Arts in Biblical and Practical Theology from Global Christian University. His background in ministry and communications has shaped the way he approaches creative work. For Ed, good design is not simply about making something look good. It is about understanding the heart behind a message and finding the clearest and most meaningful way to communicate it.
During the COVID era, Ed founded Ascend Digital, a digital marketing business created to help small businesses strengthen their presence online. As the business grew, he worked with contractors and began building a larger operation. Over time, however, Ed realized that his greatest fulfillment did not come from simply adding more clients or growing the business for the sake of revenue. He wanted to stay closer to the work and to the people behind each business.
That realization led Ed to intentionally shift toward a smaller, more hands-on approach. By working with fewer clients, he is able to invest more time in understanding each organization, building genuine relationships, and identifying where his work can make a meaningful difference. For Ed, success is not about taking on as many projects as possible. It is about serving people well and creating work that actually helps their business or organization move forward.
Alongside creativity, Ed brings an operations mindset to his work. He naturally looks for ways to make things better, whether that means improving a workflow, simplifying a process, strengthening communication, saving time, or finding a more effective way to accomplish a goal. He believes creative work should have a purpose and prefers projects that solve a real problem, improve an experience, or create lasting value rather than simply adding more work for the sake of being busy.
Whether he is building a website, improving a workflow, developing a digital campaign, producing a video, or creating a visual identity, Ed finds the most fulfillment in taking someone’s vision and helping bring it to life. His goal is to understand what a person or organization is trying to accomplish and use creativity, strategy, and thoughtful systems to make that vision a reality.
